Cahir, Lots of sheet music, and a voltran-lookings-sword

I will still carry more than I want.  But I want to rent out my place.  Last time I tried to rent it out, I met Angela, who is the deepest relationship I’ve had in my life (so far)…. but that’s another story.

To rent it out, I need to empty it.  By most people’s standards, that means packing and storing everything.  I’m sick of stuff… It kind of weighs me down.  I can’t leave permanently, ’cause there’s the stuff there… well.. I’m not going to rant about it, as I already did that.

Here’s a video that took forever to encode, so it’s amusing, gives you more of a feel for what the place looks like, and what I have to remove still.  After the video I’ll tell you the updates.

Pots, Pans, Steamer, Cuisinart, etc.

Let’s start with the shelf!  You remember the stolen shelf from my Things Going Wrong post, right? Well, it still hasn’t shown itself.  I’ve gone to Home Depot, Lowe’s, and tried to go to Ace Hardware, but they’re out of business.  No one had a shelf quite that size, so I’d have to buy a large piece of wood and cut it down. $22 or so.  Additionally, the shelf-pins… dowels… whatever they’re called.  For some annoying reason, all the condos here have the same cabinets, and the pins are short compared to normal pins.  So.. I can’t find replacement pins anywhere.

Today my neighbor came over, he had made me a new shelf. It was a little short, but it works.  It’s thicker than the other shelves… but beats an empty space!  Since the dowels are broken, he tried to install a bunch of his metal ones.  He sat there with the dremmel tool enlarging the holes… he’d done that for an hour probably, and then said he’ll be back… and never came back.  So, the shelf still ain’t up.

Ain’t networking grand? Through  Twitter, and then apparently through mutual friends, and then a seminar, I’ve gotten to know Mike Wesely. We hung out a few nights this week, and I gave him a ton of stuff: a 36″ TV, my piggy bank (which is actually a cute dog named Spot), my old Yamaha DS55 synthesizer, plates, silverware, Margatini glasses, a very nice file cabinet, a dresser, a nightstand, some fancy chairs, aloe, sunscreen, mosquito-bite lotion, pepto, a steamer, my cuisinart blender stick – which is a blender/whisker/food-processor/etc… a bench, a wine fridge (which can be used for other things I suppose), olive oil, a massive can of crushed tomatoes, speakers, a voltron-looking sword, tons of sheet music (his kid wants to learn Piano- so a synth + sheet music… tada!).

One friend is taking my most awesome couches, and the 55″ Sony Grand Wega.  I’m giving him a good price, and also taking payments over 2 months, maybe even 3.  Thank you Paypal.  I had someone interested in buying my bed for $300 in… something that is not money, and $100 that is money.  I was tempted, but his plans changed last minute.  I just want to be rid of it.  If not… f#$k it, I’ll leave it with the place.  I’d be thrilled if I rented a place that had a bed this comfy!  It’s a Sealy Posturepedic queen size, with an extra Memory Foam topper on top of it.  Amazingly comfy! $400 if you know someone who wants it TODAY.

I’ve given away my treasure trove of Dan Kennedy newsletters, my photography / photoshop books & magazines, my financial investment content.  I’ve sold a professional printer I had (Epson R1800).  The dining room stuff I could care less about.  I also have an uber-comfy chair with memory foam.  I went to the store like 7 times before finally buying it.  I’d go just to sit in it.  I’ve never paid $350 for a chair before.  I’ve seen those $1,000+ chairs… but I love my chair.  Giving away a large L-shaped table made of glass with that chair.  Giving away a work-desk.  Some lamps, a vaccum cleaner, and then I’m good to go.

I’m taking my computer wih me for right now (not the laptop… the big computer), so I’m taking the 3 monitors with me.  This is going to take up 1/2 my car :(   Will someone already invent a large high-rez, rollable OLED display? Sheesh!

Ironing Board

I had a maid come over today. It’s actually this Mexican couple, and they did a great job.  The toilets are white again, my pet spiders have disappeared, and I had to do a lot of picking up before they got here… thus, because of an impending deadline, I get shit done!  So.. stuff’s been put away, thrown out, put in the Donate To Charity pile.  I got a lot to do, but I think I can handle it in time.

I admit… I’m not taking this too seriously, it’s just happening.  It feels pretty lucky that I found so many takers and buyers over the past week.  I’m grateful for both! I’m more excited about business, so I’ve been strategizing on that.

Last night I saw a most incredible documentary called The Cove (wrote about The Cove) at Couch 24′s place. Skizzy is the reason I moved to Atlanta.  He introduced me to many people here, and I had a blast, and I stayed.  Maybe it was a comfort zone thing.. maybe it’s the fact I’d been saving to buiy a place for a while, and Florida just seemed to suck for that purpose.

I wanted to see Skizzy before I left.  He & Alyx are good fun to be around.  We spent the evening eating Pizza and Rice Krispies Treats (home made in both regular, and chocolate flavors)… though, I gotta admit, it was mostly the Rice Krispies treats!  Right as I was about to leave at 11′something, Skiz tells me what’s new in business, and reflesively, I go into consulting mode. 3:20am I leave. I just love business consulting!

The most comfortable couch in the world.

I’ve actually been developing numerous methods lately of doing my consulting through Skype, and various other applications…. I’m really happy with the results, and can help more people this way, but in person’s just more fun!  For example, I had sent Skizzy the link “CakeFarts*WARNING: Do NOT go to CakeFarts.com if you are offended by nudity, farts, and any mixing of the two! He just happened to have lots of gas the night I was over, and the CakeFarts jokes just wouldn’t stop (and yes, there was a RiceKrispiesTreatsFart too).

I hope Bill fixes the shelf today.  I hope someone decides to buy my bed today.  I esire to leave tonight, so I can drive through the night, sleep some, and then party my ass off with my good austinite friends.

Mind you, I don’t really party that hard, nor that often these days… but it will be my birthday.  I’m turning 33 this year, and I will be starting the (calendar) day off driving with the least amount of posessions I’ve ever had (in my adult life).  I will be driving to see great friends that I’ve met while couchsurfing.  A 15 hour road-trip is an adventure. I will be on the phone- have a mastermind or two scheduled already.  I can not think of a better way to start a year of my life!  Starting it out on an adventure, with less crap holding me down, headed to friends, clients, and a city I really enjoy!

Oh crap! Think I’m sleeping on the couch tonight… since I gave away the nightstand & dresser, all the recipts on my floor, shoes, etc.. are all on my bed now (watch the video above if you want to know what I’m talking about)…

This stuff is great if you do a lot of blue/green screen

This stuff is great if you do a lot of blue/green screen

Now that I got my camera to add the images to this photo, I forgot I also gave away a portable blue-screen/green-screen with background stand, and an ironing board tupperware, a martini shaker.

To finish off, I have to show you what happens when you give away your dishes…. I bought a rotiserie chicken yesterday, and wanted to finish off my spinach / tomatoes… so I chopped up the chicken, put the spinach in my 1 remaining bowl,  the tomatoes, and the chicken, and there was no room to toss it (yeah… go ahead.. make a tossing the salad joke).  So, I had to be resourceful and create my all new method of salad tossing (insert joke #2) — a grocery bag.  Worked like a charm!  Better than a large salad bowl actually, because I could see through it, and mash it up as well as toss…. that means I could rub the spices evenly throughout.

Your office looks like your car did in California. Have a great trip to Austin. Can't wait to come visit and check out Austin. Always wanted to go and now I have a good reason. Good luck with the rest of the move.
