Get your Skype superpowers

Skype is one badass application. If you don’t have it… get it, now. Out of the box it lets you text chat, send SMS (text) messages, send files, call other Skype users, call phones, send files, and it even has fun hidden smilies to amaze your friends with (my favorites are (Y)(finger) and (mooning) ).

However,  there’s more to using Skype than just being able to give your friends the finger while sending them a file (the file sending is pretty great, because it will resume files if you get disconnected, etc). Skype is a powerhouse of productivity… especially with a little help. Read the rest of this entry »

Couchsurfing radio - the show graphic

The Couchsurfing Radio Host- Couch Surfing Ori

Have you ever felt you were destined to be on TV or Radio?  Yeah… me either.  But I sure was told it often that I should have my own show.  At least for 10 yearas now.  So… here it is :)

I present to you CouchSurfingRadio, my latest creation. Right now it will be on Monday nights at 11pm EST, with replays available for your downloading pleasure (so you can hear it again and again… have it on as you clean, drive, work, jog, poop, etc..).

The show will cover many topics, but most of them will be what I often blog about: adventures, travel, incredible people and places, marketing, life lessons, motivation, design, jokes, and of course, my odd perspectives on everything.

Here is the very first episode.

Download the episode for home/car/plane/etc.. listening.

It’s a great story… the forming of this radio show:  I felt like putting on a radio show, I tweeted and facebooked that in 2 hours I’ll be putting on a radio show, and then I put on my radio show.  Exciting, huh?  There was more to it than that, of course. I didn’t figure out how to log-in to the host number until (literally) 3 minutes before showtime. I was a distracted spaz.  I didn’t know how to read the questions that were coming in through the show’s chat-room, through twitter, and through skype. So.. yeah.. I was all over the place.

The feedback thus far has been great though!

For next episode, I will have a surprise guest, someone to filter the questions/chat for me, and segments… so, some kind of structure.

Take a listen, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the show (Leave a comment below please)

Ripley's Radio Oddcast Interviews Couch Surfing Ori, The World's Foremost CouchSurferWhen I was a kid, I used to love Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!  They had these cool books, museums, and eventually they even had a strip in the Sunday Comics.  Now they have their own radio broadcast called The Ripley’s Radio Oddcast.  I was extremely honored to get a call from them, inviting me to be on their show.

For your listening pleasure– here’s my appearance on the Ripley’s Radio Oddcast… where they declared me the world’s foremost couchsurfer! Read the rest of this entry »

ingrid Vanderveldt - adventure babeI thought that my interview skills improved because I’ve been doing so many of them… It turns out that part of it is the chemistry that you have with the interviewer!

Meet Ingrid Vanderveldt: she’s hot, she races motorcycles, she starts companies, she jumps out of planes, she interviews famous entrepreneurs (like me :)  ), she laughs at my jokes!  What else can you ask for?  I got it– she gives great interview!  I learned that when you get along with your interviewer, you have a fun interview!  This is my most fun (set of) interview(s) thus far. Seth Godin - Most popular Marketing Blogger

Seth Godin - Most popular Marketing Blogger

People seem to think I party hard… while I seem to be goofy and unconventional, I enjoy conversations more than parties.  The human brain is the most exciting realm on the planet.  Everything that we have — all technology, art, rules, clothes, and much more than I care to waste your time listing…   was all created because someone had thought of it. Therefore, having conversations with people who really can call it like it is, and have a true understanding of people, society, and technology is the most enjoyable activity that I can participate in (especially if they have a sense of humor).

While many people call me smart, I am humbled to add another forthcoming meeting to my 2009 travels… Mr. Seth Godin himself.  Read the rest of this entry »

Birthday surprise… 2/3 successful!

1,200 miles… a dog… high-def video…  a knitting kit.. and one last surprise…  what else could a mother ask for?

I gotta admit… I was slightly motivated by an ex of mine inviting me for one last romp (as I’m taking off on a long friggin trip tomorrow…. more details on that excursion in a future post) if I come see her… but that wasn’t my only motivator to come down for the weekend… It was Mom’s birthday (I’d tell you her age, but I hear that’s rude).  I invited my little brother to join in on the surprise visit, but he couldn’t make it… so.. the plan was Read the rest of this entry »
