I found an article today that shows the 10 most successful potheads on the planet. We’re talking about President Obama, Governon Schwarzenegger, my personal hero: Sir Richard Branson, Michael Bloomberg, Ted Turner, and more… For those who haven’t figured it out– I support the cause as well. Does that mean I’m a lunatic slacker? Not any more than President Obama or Michael Phelps.
Let’s start with the link: Top 10 Most Successful Potheads (willing to admit it). In recent times there have been many articles about medicinal marijuana shops getting raided, despite being legal. http://www.mcclatchydc.com/251/story/61033.html for example… Obama had made campaign promises that he’d stop wasting tax payer money on raiding something that’s legal. In fact, Obama openly admits that he’s smoked, and inhaled (“That was the whole point”). What a cool president — not ’cause he smoked… but ’cause he didn’t try to make some lame lie “I didn’t inhale” or anything that came out of G.W.Bush’s mouth
So.. if the president smoked, the governor(s) smoked, over 42% of Americans have tried it… why don’t they legalize it, tax it, and pay for the bailout like that? Not to mention how much we’d save on enforcement, and war… The Mexican cartels couldn’t bring in so much if we were buying it locally.
Michael Phelps got dropped by Kellogs. That’s understandable, as they have children as clients (or the children’s parents), and they don’t want to say “Well.. it’s ok to do something illegal, Michael!” – but I’m curious as to whether Kellogs’ sales go up, or down for this. Very curious!
If you think it’s illegal because it’s proven dangerous (such as… oh.. I don’t know… Alcohol, which causes liver failure, drunk driving, rage, vomit, and more), you’re absolutely wrong. It was back in the days before Social Media… but rather the days of plain ol’ media. Rather than me telling you the entire story, why don’t you read this comprehensive documentation: http://blogs.salon.com/0002762/stories/2003/12/22/whyIsMarijuanaIllegal.html or you can find plenty of content on YouTube, etc… I saw an amazingly well done piece by The History Channel.
But I digress. I am not writing an article about legalizing it or not. I am writing an article here about Michael Phelps.
So… here’s this 23 year old kid (a world champion, record breaker, best-swimmer ever… but still a kid) who’s not had an opportunity to live a regular life. He’s been training extremely hard to become the best (which he successfully did). Everyone who looks at his bong-smoking picture says “There’s no way that is his 1st time! He’s holding that thing like a champ (not in reference to the swimming this time)!” Because he’s famous, people are making a huge deal out of it. “All his sponsors should drop him! He shouldn’t get to swim again!” And then there’s that prick sheriff trying to arrest him, without having physical evidence, or proof…. Here’s a wonderful article regarding that– words from another cop to him: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/norm-stamper/one-cop-to-another-dont-a_b_164346.html <–I think this article states most of what I’ve been saying since I heard the sheriff wanted to arrest Phelps without witnessing the event.
I just think people are always looking for a scapegoat. I think this can be a good thing though.. I think it can possibly bring about the conversation that needs to be had, so we can all finally move on, and stop destroying lives, and wasting money…. and possibly even lowering our national deficit.
Michael Phelps — if you read this, I support you. I think it’s amazing what you’ve accomplished, and I think it’s absurd that you have to apologize to the world. They should kiss your ass, not the other way around. If you got a couch, I’d love to come surf it. We can hit up some amazing adventure, do cool photography, talk about the things that matter, all while appreciating some exotic herbal flavors. Keep rocking my friend!

My husband pointed out to me 2 things. 1. He wish’s he could take a hit with Michael Phelps lung capacity and 2. There is no smoke in that bong.

I agree with Laura’s husband…that would be one impressive bong rip!
