CouchSurfingOri - influencing young minds!

When I started this trip, one of my intentions was to speak to school children about adventures, about living your dreams, about photography, and of course about making sure you question authority! I have to admit that I’ve been sort of slacking in that department (pursuing the presentations), but as you all know, I got mad-crazy luck (See the Brooklyn-speak :) ) and what I want usually happens through coincidences. So.. couch 60 (Q) works at Brooklyn University, teaching Digital Studio Recording. I went with Q to work one day, and he introduced me to the program director, and when she told me what they are doing, I volunteered to do a lecture. Turns out they were actually in the works on a guest speaker series… So,I’m excited to say that I am the launch lecture to that series.

The series is designed to bring in professionals with real world experience, that really enjoy their work. The flyer is worded for kids around here. I had to edit the text from what I originally wrote. That statement brings me back to what the school is doing that made me want to do the lecture in the 1st place: Brooklyn College has a program called BCAL, which lets kids from poor areas in New York which are majorly underfunded in their art programs go to a college campus to do various art programs: murals, painting, video editing, recording, etc… The point is for them to see that here they are on a college campus, and it’s not that tough, and they’re doing fun creative stuff. Here’s my flyer. I’ll post the video of my lecture after it’s shot. I intend on doing many more of these lectures. If you are in a school, have a kid in a school, or you work with a school… let me know… maybe I can make a presentation there.

The format? A slideshow of cool pictures that I’ve shot– celebs (Hulk Hogan, Rob Zombie, Niki Taylor, etc…), landscape, firebreathers, sports cars, cage fighting, boxing, fantasy images…. Talk about how I get cars, models, nightclubs, etc.. for free. I get into the best clubs / parties.. I get to meet celebs, party like a rockstar, and see the world. All because I know the ins and outs of my camera, and Photoshop. I’ll also do a live shooting demo, and a quick Photoshop example. After that, I’ll leave town, and head to Chicago for my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd radio interviews (Thank you Angela!). If you got any cool stops between NY / IL - let me know!
