Screw it! You gotta do what you gotta do! Water Park & New Artistic Image

So… Angela had told me about this water park in Wisconsin, that sounds amazing. I wanted to go, so I put out notices on CouchSurfing.com and on MySpace, and asked people… but no luck… no one replied for The Wisconsin Dells area…. so… I decided I’d go anyways. I just drove to a few miles from the park, walked into a Denny’s, got a cup of coffee, and stayed up all night working on a new artistic image. It’s already light out, and I’ve lost track of how many cups of coffee I’ve had (like 12). I’ve gone to the bathroom about 7 times. The wait-staff here at this Denny’s is extremely courteous. I ordered some breakfast around 8am. I’m very happy with the final image though:

After uploading the image to my various photographer profiles, I went to the water park. It’s called Noah’s Ark. It is the largest water park in the USA. It is 70 acres in size, and has about 45 water slides, as well as a few wave pools, endless rivers, and of course places to catch some sun. I was pretty tired, and thought I’d go nap on the lazy river. I ended up going from ride to ride. I went to the park, ’cause Angela had told me about it. She was actually surprised that I had never heard of it. She didn’t tell me about the lines though… There were a few hour long lines, and that was a bit annoying. The other thing that was noticable: Theme parks are not designed for single people! As you stand in a 40 minute line, you get to hear everyone else’s conversations, but you’re sort of invading if you chime in with a witty comment, as what they said was not even directed at you. Most rides require 2 or more people, so you get grouped with strangers, and then your time together is done. You don’t have the same audience when you’re a goofball… So, yeah- it was lonely, but still fun. The nice thing about going solo is that you get to ride which ever ride you want, when you want. I must’ve gone on the Plunge about 8 times in a row! The Plunge is the only extreme head-first waterslide in the Midwest. I went on Stingray about 5 times- that’s like a skateboard ramp, but with water, and on a tube. Black Anaconda was quite impressive as well! It is a roller coaster… but a water-slide.. so.. a water coaster or something. The Sponge Bob 3d experience was a lot of fun! The 3d was great, the use of the senses, the water splashing, and of course the sponge-bobisms. I wasn’t huge on the wave pool either. One of the funniest things was this “bridge” of sorts… you have 2 ropes, and beneath them are 5 or 6 lilly pads of sorts. They are made of a foam, and float, and go whereever… so you stretch, and either fall, or make it. I made it across every time, doing pull ups, jumping, walking, etc… many people were not as coordinated :)

I got out at about 5:30, the park closes at 8. I thought I’d sleep, but that didn’t work out too well. No couch in Wisconsin! I used Denny’s the night before, and drove to Minnesota. There was a massive lightning storm, and the ride was a little scary- plus, being so tired from the day’s activities, and the lack of sleep. I stopped off at a restaurant, got some food, some fudge, and a coffee, and was on the way again. I stopped for a nap at a gas station. I then got more coffee, some cheese/ham snacks — there’s tons of those everywhere in Wisconsin… the Cheese State, water, and moved on… until it was time to nap again… I woke up an hour later, and made it to Minnesota.
