So… check this out- I’ve gotten some updates on some things I was sort-of involved with.
1st there was Mountainboarding…. Remember how I had a day’s worth of lessons with world-champ Baron Frierson? Well…. that consisted of me falling down the side of a mountain all day long. It hurt, I bled plenty, and by the end of the day I was drastically improving, but still busting ass (thankfully though, I had my Hillbilly brand butt-pads on). So… I get a call the other day…. from Ground Industries, makers of the board I was using… they checked out the board, since I brought it back, and they had forgotten to inspect it before lending it to me. Now, it was a production test-board, so wasn’t a real one… but yeah… the call was to inform me that the board was not tightened at all… all the kingpins were loose…. so.. there’s a reason I fell so much. “The good news… is that you’re a much better mountain boarder than you think you are!”
The other call I got was from a friend of mine, telling me about another event I was supposed to be part of, Navigator’s Run… a big rally across multiple states. Fast cars, traveling at an average speed of 150mph. I was supposed to ride in a custom racing BMW on day 1, a million dollar Ferrari Enzo day 2, a Lamborghini Limousine on Day 3, and so on…. there are checkpoints to be gone through, and then crazy parties every night in different cities. 5 star hotels, models, fast cars, yada yada… Well… after doing my travel from FL to CA and back so quickly, I wanted to take my time a little more, experience each area… and I have! So.. I wasn’t going to drive from Georgia to Kansas for this thing, and try to make it back… that’s a lot of gas, and while I like speed, riding in a car at 150mph is still just riding in a car… driving.. that’s another story! I still have to be in Nevada by late August, so I was not going unless they flew me. The owner of Navigator’s Run hadn’t gotten back to me regarding sponsoring a flight, so I wasn’t going as far as I was concerned. It didn’t really bother me, I had plenty to keep me occupied. Skizzy was supposed to go to this thing also, and do some coverage for Makes & Models magazine. DuPont Registry was going to be there. All sorts of fancy schmancy stuff. Guess what!?!?! The 2nd call I got (remember? the topic of this post is “Got a couple of calls…” was to notify me that the Navigator’s Run had been cancelled, and refunds (I think it was $3,000 or $5,000 entry fee) are not being given out. I am so glad I didn’t try to haul ass down to Kansas… I would’ve been pissed!
Intuition baby!
