I got here at 5:30am! It’s 30 degrees, and the doors are locked! Thankfully, it’s warm in the car, and I even have some reception on the internet (though it’s pretty flaky and keeps dropping me). I’m tired, but I think journaling is more important right now. I needed to catch up on it, and some of my logs got erased when the laptop ran out of power @ Jessica’s today. Tim’s supposed to be leaving to go somewhere at 7:30am anyways… so.. I’ll just sleep there. I’m still pretty shocked (and amused) that the doors are locked. I tried the back porch, and of course the front door. No key under the mat.
The drive was pretty difficult. Thank god for the GPS… that made it pretty easy. It was difficult because I was tired. I had to pull over for gas a few times. Many gas stations were closed, and did not have the credit-card function built into the pump. I pulled over at one gas station at 2am, and took a nap for an hour or so. Had even written out a text to Tim’s phone- which I was apparently too tired to send. After searching for a way to get in, I had to pee in the bushes…. you gotta do what you gotta do. I had also peed behind the dumpster at that one gas station, since they were closed.

At 7am, I texted Tim that I’m outside.
It was freezing, and it was great to see my buddy. He let me in, made me tea, and we chatted. I took a few photos of him & his kids before Tim had to leave to go to Florida. We chatted for a bit, and then he took off. I was exhausted, but I stayed awake long enough to watch this awesome movie, Crank. I slept for a tiny bit - between 1:30pm-3pm or so. My wakeup call was the best! Trevor and Max jumping up and down on my air mattress “Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!” The hillarious thing was that they didn’t irritate me, but rather, I reached for my camcorder, and made them do it again!
We walked down the street and shot the kids (pictures, of course), down the street, and at the local park. The kids were a bit grouchy for a bit after that, as Max was hungry and tired, and Trevor wanted to stay in the park longer, so he can get tennis balls out of the locked up tennis court. I decided to cheer them up with a ride on my shoulders. That seemed to work… except that 1)Apparently the elevation is much higher than Florida’s “sea level” so I felt out of breath sooner, 2)Lisa was a bit concerned… apparently they don’t get too crazy with the kids (so, yes… I got a small dirty look later when I was showing Trevor the proper technique to flick a rubber band at people), and 3) I felt tired quickly, as Trevor and Max kept fighting over who goes next! I put them on my shoulders, and told them the harder they pull my ears, the faster I’ll run! I was scaring the crap out of them (and of Lisa, who had to watch her kids in such perilous conditions) by running fast, and teaching them to aim… i.e. if they pull only on one ear, I run in circles in that direction… or if they don’t let go of the ears, I’d run right towards a mailbox, or tree, or some obstacle, and even grazed them with a tree or 2. It was fun! I put them down on top of my car, and taught them the proper technique of how to slide down a windshield
. They’re such cute kids (in stride).
Lisa is an artist of sorts, and I’m trying to motivate her to do more photography- as everything takes time, and while her time is limited, her talent is very noticable… she should definitely do more with her photos. So, I showed her some experimental/ artistic techniques. Long exposure with lightsticks and a single strobe- or just using available light (1600 ISO, placing the camera on the table, 4 second all the way to 30 second exposure). Of course, I was happy to model for such an experiment.
I stayed up late, and watched Cars - which was cute, but I didn’t care for that much - and Hoodwinked (which I had seen before… a good friend (a girlfriend at the time), had thought I’d enjoy it (It has a squirrel on coffee!), but this time I watched it two times in a row… I really enjoyed it more this time for some reason.
I did a lot of color correcting and such- Silvia’s pics, the Onyx show, etc.. went to sleep pretty late.
