Day 4- Have you ever hit your face with your knee? Trampoline lessons :)

I met Cari for lunch at the MacGreggor Cafe. The parking lot was totally full. By funny coincidence, I parked right behind her (without knowing it). There was a long wait, so we had a great chat. I was so amused, because she kept mentioning “MotherFucker” - a new year’s event she had attended in NYC. We chatted. Had a blast. We have a lot in common, and this woman has a ton of amazing stories! She’s an adrenaline junky like me, and knows some amazing people. We chatted about my project, and her project…. she’s raising a lot of money to make her own circus. Not one of those “chain the elephants up, and hope people don’t smell all the poop” but rather an amazing awe-inspiring experience like Cirque Du Soleil… only since she’s making it, I’m sure it will be even cooler.

While we chatted, I heard a woman talking about a “Vision Board” and then talking about this guy’s kid, who sat on this box, and they opened it up, and it was his old vision board, and it turns out that that is the exact house they live in now! This caught my attention, as I recognized the scene from “The Secret” (www.thesecret.tv) - a very inspirational movie that I would recommend to many people.

We finished our meal, Cari picked up the check, and we went to leave. I decided it’d be amusing - since the movie is mostly about the universe, manifestation, and all that good stuff..the whole “everything happens for a reason” thing… so…based on that, I was supposed to hear them talking about the movie, and I was supposed to meet them. That whole last sentence was mildly sarcastic, but has a truth to it. So, I went to leave, put my card on their table… they looked up at me, and I said “This 2 year road-trip I’m on was inspired by ‘The Secret” and I walked away.

We got to Cari’s and tried to decide what’s on our agenda for the day. We could go to the Circus with Staci & Friends, or we can go to the beach and make our own Poi (explained in next paragraph)… but that’s for the night.. what do we do now (2pm)? How about flying? Cari is a flight instructor! She’s even an aerobatics pilot (told you she’s super-cool!)!! Then we decided… why not go fly, then rent a plane, fly to Key West (from Ft. Myers), and do Poin on the Beach there! Well… no planes were available that didn’t have to be back at 8am…. that’s pushing it. We decided we’d go flying anyways. She needed to get checked out at the local airport anyways, since she hasn’t been flying in about 3 or 4 months. We called, and got to take this single-engine Cesna. It wasn’t the flying lesson I was told I’d get, but then again, this was the prerequisite for that. I’ll go flying with her in March when I’m back in FL. From what I hear, she’s already flying around again. We did a bunch of Touch & Go’s (take off, fly a pattern, make sure you’re checking all the right things for landing, land, and take immediately off again). On the way back, we decided that the circus could be lame, since there’d be a lot of elephant poop, and tons of children, and it’s an hour drive each way…. so if it sucks, it’d waste a lot of our time.

We got to Cari’s, and decided we’d go to the beach, and make Poi (that polynisean Fire on a string), and play frisbee, and hoolahoop. We went to the stores (Party Supermarket, Toys R Us, and Pet Supermarket) and got hoolahoops, glow-sticks, leashes, and leashes that have tennis balls attached to them. These tennis balls had holes drilled that had Glow-sticks go through them. Cari is brilliant! She’s also very agile and limber… I say that because while I looked like a rhinoceros trampling through the thicket, she looked like a swan flowing on water. We have funny video of Cari showing how I look when I trampoline, and how you’re supposed to do it. I hit myself in the temple with my knee a few times while trying to do the whole backflip thing. I also couldn’t jump rope or hoolahoop remotely close to what she can do. The funniest thing (Though not at the time) was when I tried to Poi. Again, I’m about the strength, she’s about the fluid motion… I was flinging those Poi at a very fast and forceful velocity, and you could hear quite clearly whenever I’d whack myself with the Poi. *WHACK* into my leg… *WHACK* they hit my back *WHACK* they hit my nuts, and I collapsed for a bit, having just enhanced my view of the stars above…. Oh… what pain! But then I thought about it, and like life, it’s not if you fall… it’s when you fall… and then it’s all about what you do about it. Do you sit there and worry about how much it hurts, and waste the time? Or… do you get up, grin and bear it, and make the most out of your time I chose the 2nd route, got up, and kept trying the Poi. Sure enough, after a few minutes, I could even see clearly again.

Her roommate came home, as did her roomy’s date. We exchanged funny clips— I showed them Justin Timerlake’s Dick In A Box. They showed me “It needs more cowbell”, and then “The Evolution of Dance”- which is a funny clip! I like her roommate, Sunny… she’s very intelligent, very beautiful, very funny, yet very classy… she reminds me of Cameron Diaz (that’s a compliment). Sunny took off again, and we trampolined some more. Then we watched Being John Malkovich! What a crazy movie!!!! I forgot how simply bizzare it is! I watched it years ago in the theatre, and thought it was amazing then…. this time we just paid attention to all the details, and how extremely ridiculous and brilliant it is! After gasping for air, from laughing so hard at that movie, I decided to go on a “Backyard Safari” - I took photos of the backyard and kitchen….. it’s a lesson for people… The lesson? There is cool stuff to shoot ANYWHERE you go! You can’t make the “there’s nothing to shoot where I live…. I need to travel to _______ to get good pictures!” excuse, because there’s awesome stuff EVERYWHERE. I shot garbage cans, plants, chairs, lamps, plates, and even a dollar I rolled up - since Cari likes “edgy pictures” - with a knife and some confectionary sugar and it looks damn good! I then shot macro pictures of half a pill … again, looks pretty edgy.

After taking pictures of the front of the house- the lighting really - I finally went to sleep!
