Day 1 - Let’s meet our 1st Couch!

Argggh! Red Bull & Vodka…. they made me sleep past my alarm clock! No, I didn’t sleep in by most people’s terms… but the fact is that I wanted to get on the road pretty early, and 7:30am IS still 2 hours past 5:30am. Oh well- I did need the rest! The launch party had sucked so much energy out of me that I did become slightly ill afterwards (that, and I’ve been hanging around a lot of models, make up artists, and promoters that I know have been sick). Mom did not want me to leave until my room was cleaned up. My roomS actually, since I had two that I had totally messed up in my last month of living there. Prior to that, I had my own place on Ft. Lauderdale Beach. That place was a mess of course, but would get cleaned up in time for shoots. I wanted to leave sooner, but there was so much to clean up! Damn I have a lot of stuff!

Finally, I got to leave. I was stressing out a bit, as I had kept Kenny & Kathy waiting. I had a surger that I needed to pick up from them for Delilah. I had used a portion of my credit I had with them for making their website - normally I have them print up Vinyl Banners or Stickers for me. I chatted with them for a while, as they are so pleasant, and then got on the road. I called Staci, and she had already thought I was going to flake, as I hadn’t called until that point. I confirmed that I am in fact on my way! It was pitch dark, and I got some practice driving and videotaping myself.

Staci is Couch #1… but Couch #1 the 3rd. Desiree Starr was supposed to be couch #1, then had to cancel because of visiting family. Then Marsha was supposed to be Couch #1, but then had family issues at the last minute as well. Staci had contacted me to shoot / couch with her…. and I was full, and said I’d call if things changed– and they had.

The drive was not that bad. There was no traffic, and the GPS that mom and dad got me (Garmin Nuvi) is amazing! I can’t thank the folks enough for it… I did not have to look at where I’m going, pull over to evaluate directions, hope I catch all the proper street signs… this thing is the coolest. It took about 2.5 hours, but I made it to Staci’s. As she stood there outside, barely having woken up, I surprised her with my video camera- putting her on the spot “Hi there Couch #1! Who are you? What do you do?” It turns out she’s a bartender…. which I quickly got video footage of. “What drink can you make?” became a quick experiment in what will mix with this awesome rum she got from Cuba: Havana Club. What was available to mix it with? Orange juice / Red Gatorade / Pink (lemonade) Gatorade. So, I got 3 drinks, and the taste test began.

Afterwards, we went swimming at night. It was pretty damn cold out, but the water was heated… It was fun because we were chatting about everything and everyone., while steam rose up from the water. I was all excited that I finally get to try out my new water-bag for my camcorder. Sadly, none of the footage came out- the bag must have fogged up because of the temperature differential! It was still cool that I was able to shoot underwater. We went inside… quickly, as we were freezing our asses off! We munched on Pizza Rolls, Yogurt, and Nacho Chips & Cheese. Staci then gave me my room, and it was the best sleep I had gotten in probably 2 months!
